Heydar Aliyev: A Legacy of Vision Born in a remote town of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev rose to become one of the few rulers of the Soviet Union. This visionary statesman has fought for Azerbaijan's national identity and turned its independence into an irreversible reality. Aliyev had a passion for public service and dedication to the cause of his people. This legendary statesman persevered, but built a nation and placed it on the world map. |

Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev: A Legacy of Generosity Born the son of a poor Baku shoemaker, Taghiyev's strong work ethic and business acumen were readily apparent by the time he was an 18 year old contractor. Over time, he rose to become an industrial magnate, amassing fortunes in the oil and fisheries businesses among others. For all of his business successes, Taghiyev is remembered today for his generosity. Among other projects, he funded the construction of the first secular Muslim school for girls. |
It is with Aliyev's example of vision, perseverance and educational advancement, and Taghiyev's example of generosity in mind that the ADA Foundation operates today.
